Larry Hillman

Lawrence Morley Hillman (February 5, 1937 – May 31, 2022) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman and coach. Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, he began his junior career with one season for the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League in 1953, then joined the Hamilton Tiger Cubs in the middle of the 1953–54 season before signing with the Detroit Red Wings in 1955. He made his National Hockey League debut for Detroit on March 5, 1955, against the New York Rangers at Detroit Olympia, and won his first Stanley Cup with the franchise later that year. In doing so he became the youngest player to have his name engraved on the Stanley Cup, at 18 years, two months, and nine days old. One of the most travelled players in hockey history, Hillman played for 15 different teams over 22 professional seasons, appearing in the NHL between 1955 and 1973 and in the World Hockey Association from 1973 to 1976. After retiring as a player, he spent parts of three seasons as a coach in the WHA. Across his playing career, Hillman had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup six times.
