Lee Fogolin

Lee Joseph Fogolin (born February 7, 1955) was an American professional ice hockey player who appeared in 924 National Hockey League regular season games between 1974 and 1987. He played for the Buffalo Sabres and the Edmonton Oilers and won the Stanley Cup in 1984 and 1985.

Fogolin played junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals of the OHA from 1972 to 1974, recording 52 points in 102 games along with 240 penalty minutes. He was selected in the first round, 11th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1974 NHL entry draft. He played his first professional season in 1974–75 with Buffalo, then split the following season between the Sabres and the AHL's Hershey Bears.

He was acquired by the Edmonton Oilers through the NHL Expansion Draft ahead of the 1979–80 season and went on to play seven full seasons there. Late in the 1980–81 season, following the trade of Blair MacDonald, Fogolin was named captain. He was the first of five Oilers to captain the franchise to the Stanley Cup finals, reaching them in 1983, where Edmonton lost to the New York Islanders.

Internationally, Fogolin chose to play for Team USA at the 1976 Canada Cup. He was invited again in 1984 but declined to play.
