Leonard Patrick (Red) Kelly

Dossier
Leonard Patrick "Red" Kelly (July 9, 1927 – May 2, 2019) was a Canadian professional hockey player and coach. A defenseman who also played forward, Kelly won eight Stanley Cup championships — four with the Detroit Red Wings and four with the Toronto Maple Leafs — more than any other player who never skated for the Montreal Canadiens. While still active with Toronto, he simultaneously served as a Liberal Member of Parliament for York West from 1962 to 1965. He later coached in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Maple Leafs, retiring from coaching in 1977.
