Leonard Robinson

Meyers Patrick Leonard, born February 27, 1992, is an American former professional basketball player. Born in Woodbridge, Virginia, he grew up in the small southeastern Illinois town of Robinson. His father James, a golf pro, was killed in a bicycle accident when Leonard was six years old.

Leonard played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini before being selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 11th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. He spent his first seven seasons with the Trail Blazers. In the 2019 off-season he was traded to the Miami Heat, with whom he reached the NBA Finals in 2020.

A center standing seven feet tall, Leonard was an unusually capable outside shooter for his size. While no NBA player at least 7 ft 0 in tall has posted a career three-point field goal percentage of 40 percent, Leonard is among the few who finished above 39 percent.
