Lloyd Free

World B. Free (born Lloyd Bernard Free; December 9, 1953) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association from 1975 to 1988. He went by his first name, Lloyd, until early December 1981. He was also called "The Prince of Mid-Air," the "Brownsville Bomber," and most often "All-World."

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Free grew up in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, and attended Canarsie High School. He went on to Guilford College in North Carolina, where as a freshman he led the basketball team to the NAIA National Championship and was named MVP of the NAIA Tournament. The nickname "World" dated to his Brooklyn days, given by a friend on account of his 44-inch vertical leap and 360-degree dunks.

In the NBA, Free played for the San Diego Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Houston Rockets. He was known for his "rainbow" jump shots, a reference to the extreme arc of the ball, and for taking high-risk shots.
