Louis "Louie" Nelson, born May 28, 1951, is an American former National Basketball Association player. He entered the league as the first pick of the second round of the 1973 NBA draft, selected by the Baltimore Bullets. Before the 1974–75 season, Nelson was taken by the New Orleans Jazz in the NBA Expansion Draft. He spent two seasons with the Jazz before the club waived him. Ahead of the 1976–77 season he signed with the San Antonio Spurs, but was waived after four games. His final NBA campaign came in 1977–78, when he played for the Kansas City Kings and the New Jersey Nets. Across his NBA career, Nelson averaged 9.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He later moved into coaching, leading the girls basketball team at Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy.
