Mario Tremblay

Joseph Daniel Mario Tremblay (born September 2, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach in the National Hockey League. Nicknamed "Le bleuet bionique" (The Bionic Blueberry), Tremblay played his junior hockey with the Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge before joining the Montreal Canadiens, the only NHL team he would play for across his career from 1974 to 1986. He won five Stanley Cup championships with the Canadiens as a player, in 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, and 1986. In game six of the 1978 Stanley Cup Final, he scored the winning goal that gave the Cup to Montreal. Over 852 regular season games, Tremblay scored 258 goals and added 326 assists for 584 points, with 1,043 penalty minutes. He won the Molson Cup for the 1982–83 season and ranks 10th on the Canadiens all-time plus-minus list at 184. He remains the youngest goal scorer in franchise history. After his playing days, Tremblay also coached in the NHL. His hometown of Alma honoured him by naming its local arena "Le Centre Mario-Tremblay," and since 1981 he has owned a sports bar there called "Bar-Restaurant chez Mario Tremblay."
