Maurice Lucas

Maurice "Luke" Lucas (February 18, 1952 – October 31, 2010) was an American professional basketball player in the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. He played college basketball for the Marquette Warriors before beginning his professional career with two seasons in the ABA, splitting time with the Spirits of St. Louis and the Kentucky Colonels.

Lucas then played 12 seasons in the NBA, suiting up for the Portland Trail Blazers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knickerbockers, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Seattle SuperSonics. A four-time NBA All-Star, he served as the starting power forward on the Trail Blazers' 1976–77 championship team. He was nicknamed "the Enforcer" for his physical role on the court, a reputation best exemplified in Game 2 of that season's NBA Finals.

Away from basketball, Lucas organized celebrity sporting events to raise awareness and money for children's care at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, where his daughter was treated as an infant. The Maurice Lucas Foundation, established in 2010 in Tigard, Oregon, continues his work supporting children's health. Lucas was named to the ABA All-Time Team.
