Mel Triplett

Mel Triplett was an American football fullback who played eight seasons in the NFL. He attended the University of Toledo, where he led the 1954 Toledo Rockets to a 6–2–1 record, rushing for 803 yards. Selected by the New York Giants in the fifth round of the 1955 NFL Draft, Triplett played in New York from 1955 to 1960, then finished his career with the Minnesota Vikings from 1961 to 1962. He scored the opening touchdown in the 1956 NFL Championship Game, a 47–7 Giants victory over the Chicago Bears, and was named New York's outstanding offensive player in that game.
