Michel Larocque

Michel Raymond "Bunny" Larocque (April 6, 1952 – July 29, 1992) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers and St. Louis Blues. He was a four-time Stanley Cup winner with the Montreal Canadiens.

Larocque played junior hockey with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey Association from 1968 to 1972, leading the league in shutouts in each of his final three seasons. He was also among the most penalized goaltenders in the league and was regularly involved in fights. In the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft, the Montreal Canadiens selected him sixth overall.

In 1973 he turned professional with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs of the American Hockey League, his first taste of the pro game. For his play that season he shared the Hap Holmes Memorial Award with teammate Michel Deguise and was named to the AHL Second All-Star Team.

Larocque began his NHL career in 1974 with the Canadiens, the season Ken Dryden, one of the era's top goaltenders, sat out in a contract dispute. With Dryden absent, Larocque shared the Montreal goaltending duties through the year. He went on to win four Stanley Cup championships during his tenure with the Canadiens, later finishing his NHL career with stops in Toronto, Philadelphia and St. Louis. He died in 1992 at the age of 40.
