Mike Bantom

Michael Allen Bantom (born December 3, 1951) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'9" power forward and center out of Saint Joseph's University, Bantom won a silver medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics with the United States national team, which lost a controversial final game to the Soviet Union.

The Phoenix Suns selected Bantom with the eighth pick of the 1973 NBA draft. Over a nine-year NBA career spanning 1973 to 1982, he played for the Suns, the Seattle SuperSonics, the New York Nets, the Indiana Pacers, and the Philadelphia 76ers. He earned All-Rookie Team honors and finished his NBA career with 8,568 total points, 4,517 total rebounds, and 1,623 total assists. From 1982 until 1989, Bantom continued his professional career in Italy.

After retiring as a player, Bantom held a series of positions within the NBA, serving as licensing manager for NBA International, NBA International director of marketing, NBA senior vice president of player development, and executive vice president of referee operations. He is the father of four children, three daughters and a son.
