Mike Christie

Michael Hunt Christie (December 20, 1949 – July 11, 2019) was a professional ice hockey defenseman who played 412 NHL games across seven seasons from 1974 to 1981, suiting up for the California Seals, Cleveland Barons, Colorado Rockies, and Vancouver Canucks. Born in Big Spring, Texas, and raised in Calgary, Alberta, he was the first native Texan to play in the NHL. Christie played college hockey at the University of Denver, earning first-team All-American honors in 1971 and representing the U.S. at the 1972 Ice Hockey World Championship Pool B tournament. He served as captain of the Colorado Rockies.
