Mike Ditka

Michael Keller Ditka, born Michael Dyczko on October 18, 1939, is an American former professional football player, coach, and commentator. He was named UPI NFL Rookie of the Year in 1961 and became the first tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 receiving yards in his rookie season. Over his playing career he earned five Pro Bowl selections and six All-Pro honors at tight end, suiting up for the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys. He won an NFL championship with the 1963 Bears and played on the Cowboys' Super Bowl VI team.

After his playing days, Ditka won Super Bowl XII as an assistant coach with the Cowboys, then served as head coach of the Bears from 1982 to 1992, coaching them to victory in Super Bowl XX. He was named both AP and UPI NFL Coach of the Year twice, in 1985 and 1988. He later served as head coach of the New Orleans Saints from 1997 to 1999. A three-time Super Bowl champion, Ditka and Tom Flores are the only people to win a Super Bowl as a player, an assistant coach, and a head coach.

Ditka was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and was named to the NFL's 75th- and 100th-Anniversary All-Time Teams.
