Dossier

Edward Miguel "Mike" Garcia (November 17, 1923 – January 13, 1986), nicknamed "Big Bear," was a right-handed pitcher who spent 12 of his 14 major league seasons with the Cleveland Indians. Born in San Gabriel, California, he entered professional baseball at 18 before serving three years in the U.S. Army. He debuted in MLB in 1948 and from 1949 to 1954 formed part of Cleveland's "Big Four" rotation alongside Bob Lemon, Early Wynn, and Bob Feller, going 104–57 over those six seasons with two 20-win campaigns and two AL ERA titles. His peak came in 1954, when the Indians won a then-record 111 games.
