Dudley Michael Hargrove, born October 26, 1949, played first base for the Texas Rangers (1974–1978), San Diego Padres (1979), and Cleveland Indians (1979–1985), batting and throwing left-handed throughout a 12-year career. He won both the AL Rookie of the Year and The Sporting News Rookie of the Year awards in 1974 after hitting .323 with Texas — the first Rangers player to earn that honor. Hargrove made the AL All-Star team in 1975 and led AL first basemen in assists twice. He finished with a .290 career average, 80 home runs, and 686 RBI, and was known by the nickname "Grover."
