Mike Mercer

Michael Mercer (November 21, 1935 – March 24, 2024) was a professional football kicker and punter who played in the NFL and AFL from 1961 to 1970. He attended Hardin-Simmons and Arizona State College before beginning his pro career. Mercer played for six teams across both leagues, including the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, and Buffalo Bills. In 1964 he led the Raiders in scoring with 79 points, connecting on 15 field goals and all 34 extra point attempts. He was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs' 1966 AFL championship team that appeared in the first AFL–NFL World Championship Game.
