Mike Newlin

Michael F. Newlin (born January 2, 1949) is an American former professional basketball player who competed in the National Basketball Association from 1971 to 1982. A shooting guard listed at 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and 200 pounds (91 kg), he played collegiately at the University of Utah before beginning an eleven-season professional career. Newlin spent most of that career with the Houston Rockets, appearing in several playoff series, including the 1977 Eastern Conference Finals, which the Rockets lost to the Philadelphia 76ers led by Julius Erving. He later played for the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks. His finest season came in 1980–81 with the Nets, when he averaged 21.4 points per game. Newlin retired in 1982 having scored 12,507 career points.
