Dossier

Michael Barry Reid, born May 24, 1947, is an American defensive tackle, country music artist, and composer. Born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania, he attended Pennsylvania State University, where he played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions and served as a captain on the undefeated 1968 and 1969 teams. The Cincinnati Bengals selected him in the first round of the 1970 NFL draft with the seventh overall pick. Playing defensive tackle, Reid spent five seasons with the Bengals, earning trips to the Pro Bowl after the 1972 and 1973 seasons before retiring following the 1974 season.

After football, Reid turned to music as a songwriter, co-writing several hit singles for country artists, including Ronnie Milsap's "Stranger in My House," which won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1984. He later launched a solo recording career, releasing two studio albums for Columbia Records and charting seven singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, among them the number one hit "Walk on Faith."
