Nate Archibald

Nathaniel "Tiny" Archibald, born September 2, 1948, is an American former professional basketball player who spent fourteen years in the National Basketball Association. He played most notably for the Cincinnati Royals, who relocated to become the Kansas City–Omaha Kings, and for the Boston Celtics.

Archibald was a willing passer and an adequate shooter from midrange, but it was his quickness, speed, and shiftiness that made him difficult to guard in the open court, where he would regularly drive past defenders on his way to the basket. That versatility allowed him to lead the NBA in both scoring and assists in the same season, 1972–73, making him the first of only two players in league history to accomplish the feat.

A playground figure growing up in the South Bronx of New York City, Archibald played high school basketball for only one-and-a-half seasons. He was cut from the varsity squad at DeWitt Clinton High School as a sophomore and returned to the team as a junior.

In 1991, Archibald was enshrined into both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame.
