Nick Mickoski

Nicholas "Nick" Mickoski (December 7, 1927 – March 13, 2002) was a Canadian ice hockey forward whose playing career ran from 1945 to 1965. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he reached the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers in 1947 and went on to play for four NHL teams between 1948 and 1960, also suiting up for the Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Boston Bruins before retiring from the league after the 1960 season. The balance of his career was spent across various minor leagues. He appeared in the NHL All-Star Game in 1956. Following his NHL retirement in 1960, Mickoski continued in the Western Hockey League, earning WHL First All-Star Team honours and a WHL Championship in 1963. Beginning in 1967 he coached the Grand Falls Cataracts in the NAHA senior hockey league in Newfoundland and Labrador. He was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2004 and is an Honoured Member of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame. In the 2009 book 100 Ranger Greats, he was ranked No. 77 all-time among the 901 New York Rangers who had played during the franchise's first 82 seasons.
