Dossier

Joseph Jean-Noël Yves Picard (December 25, 1938 – September 6, 2017) was a Canadian defenceman who played in the NHL from 1965 to 1973. He broke into the league with the Montreal Canadiens, winning the Stanley Cup in 1965, before spending the bulk of his career with the St. Louis Blues and later the Atlanta Flames. Picard is widely remembered for tripping Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins immediately after Orr scored the series-winning goal of the 1970 Stanley Cup Final, launching Orr into the airborne, arms-raised pose that became one of the most reproduced sports photographs in North American history.
