O.J. Simpson

Orenthal James Simpson, nicknamed "the Juice," was an American football player, actor, and media personality who lived from July 9, 1947, to April 10, 2024. He played college football for the USC Trojans, winning the 1968 Heisman Trophy as a senior. The Buffalo Bills selected him first overall in the 1969 NFL/AFL draft.

Simpson played 11 seasons in the National Football League, nine of them with the Bills, and is regarded as one of the best running backs of his era. From 1972 to 1976 he earned five consecutive Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selections. He led the league in rushing yards four times, in rushing touchdowns twice, and in points scored in 1975. In 1973 he became the first NFL player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season, an achievement that earned him that year's NFL Most Valuable Player award; he remains the only player to reach the mark in a 14-game regular season. He also holds the record for single-season rushing yards per game, at 143.1.

His football career was later overshadowed by his two criminal charges for the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. In the contentious criminal trial that followed, he was acquitted on both counts.
