Dossier

Patrick Joseph "Hitch" Hickey (born May 15, 1953) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played between 1973 and 1985. Born in Brantford, Ontario, Hickey was drafted 30th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft and 18th overall by the Toronto Toros in the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft. He began his professional career with the Toros, playing his first two seasons in the World Hockey Association.

Hickey joined the Rangers for the 1975–76 NHL season. A popular player during his time in New York, he skated on a line with Swedish stars Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson, in part because of his speed and scoring ability. Over the course of his NHL career he also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Quebec Nordiques and St. Louis Blues, for a total of ten NHL seasons. In Toronto, he was part of a high-scoring line alongside Rick Vaive and Bill Derlago.

Across 646 NHL games, Hickey scored 192 goals and added 212 assists for 404 points. He is the brother of Greg Hickey. After his playing days, Hickey began a career in financial services.
