Pedro Ramos

Pedro ("Pete") Ramos Guerra was born on April 28, 1935, in Pinar del Río, Cuba, where he worked on his father's tobacco farm before taking up amateur baseball. Signed at 17 by scout Joe Cambria, the right-handed pitcher went on to a 15-year Major League career (1955–1970) with clubs including the Washington Senators, Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, and several National League teams. He was named to the American League All-Star team in 1959 and led the AL in losses four times. On April 11, 1961, he was the winning pitcher in the Minnesota Twins' first game as a relocated franchise, blanking the Yankees 6–0 at Yankee Stadium.
