Peter Mahovlich

Peter Joseph Mahovlich, born October 10, 1946, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player, coach, and executive. Known during his playing years as "Little M" — his older brother Frank was the "Big M" — Mahovlich attended St. Michael's College School in Toronto from 1961 to 1963, where, like Frank, he played on the school's Junior B hockey team. Before hockey took precedence he played first base on his high school baseball team, beating out Gord Kirke for the position.

Mahovlich was drafted second overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1963 NHL amateur draft. Over his career he played in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings, for whom he suited up twice, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. His minor- and junior-league stops included the Ontario Hockey Association's Hamilton Red Wings, the American Hockey League's Pittsburgh Hornets, Montreal Voyageurs, and Adirondack Red Wings, the Central Hockey League's Fort Worth Wings, and the International Hockey League's Toledo Goaldiggers.

With Montreal he played alongside his brother Frank and was a member of four Stanley Cup championship teams, contributing to the Canadiens' cup-winning squads of 1971, 1973, 1976, and 1977. After his playing days he remained in the game as a coach and executive.
