Phil Myre

Philippe Louis "Phil" Myre, born November 1, 1948, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played 14 seasons in the National Hockey League. Over his career he tended goal for the Montreal Canadiens, Atlanta Flames, St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers, Colorado Rockies and Buffalo Sabres.

Originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1966 NHL entry draft, Myre played parts of three seasons with the club. In 1970-71, following an injury to Rogatien Vachon, he appeared in 30 regular season games and dressed for 70. During the playoffs, however, Montreal turned to rookie Ken Dryden, and when the Canadiens won the Stanley Cup, Myre was included in the team picture and received a Stanley Cup ring. Although he qualified, his name was left off the Cup itself because he did not dress for any playoff games.

Myre was claimed by the Atlanta Flames in the 1972 NHL Expansion Draft and played for the team for almost six seasons. Beginning as the expansion club's starting goaltender, he spent most of his Atlanta tenure splitting the net equally with Dan Bouchard. He was later traded from the Flames along with Curt Bennett and Barry Gibbs. Late in his career he featured in the 1980 Stanley Cup Final with the Philadelphia Flyers.
