Dossier

Phil Regan (born April 6, 1937) was a right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1960 through the early 1970s with the Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago White Sox. A product of Wayland High School in Wayland, Michigan, Regan attended Western Michigan University before signing with Detroit in 1956. He transitioned from a starting role in the minor leagues to a bullpen presence with the Dodgers, where teammate Sandy Koufax dubbed him "the Vulture" during the 1966 season for his ability to enter games late and earn wins in relief.
