Ping Bodie

Frank Stephen "Ping" Bodie (born Francesco Stephano Pezzolo, October 8, 1887 – December 17, 1961) was a right-handed center fielder from San Francisco who played Major League Baseball from 1911 to 1921. He spent time with the Chicago White Sox (1911–1914), Philadelphia Athletics (1917), and New York Yankees (1919–1921). His nickname "Ping" came from the sound his fifty-two-ounce bat made against the dead ball of the era. Before reaching the majors, Bodie hit 30 home runs for the San Francisco Seals of the Pacific Coast League in 1910. He is credited as a partial inspiration for Ring Lardner's fictional baseball series *You Know Me Al*.
