Ralph Guglielmi

Ralph Vincent Guglielmi (June 26, 1933 – January 23, 2017), nicknamed "the Goog," was an American football quarterback. Born in Columbus, Ohio, he played high school football at Grandview Heights High School before attending the University of Notre Dame.

Guglielmi played college football for Notre Dame from 1951 to 1954, leading the 1952, 1953, and 1954 teams to a combined record of 25–3–2. The 1953 team finished 9–0–1 and the 1954 team 9–1. As a senior in 1954, he ranked fourth in the nation with 1,160 passing yards, was a unanimous All-American selection, and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

He went on to play nine seasons in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins (1955–1960), St. Louis Cardinals (1961), New York Giants (1962–1963), and Philadelphia Eagles (1963). In 1960, he ranked among the NFL leaders with 125 completed passes (fifth), 1,547 passing yards (seventh), 19 interceptions (fourth), and 320 yards lost on sacks (first).
