Ray Sadecki

Raymond Michael Sadecki (December 26, 1940 – November 17, 2014) was a left-handed pitcher who spent the bulk of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Sadecki signed with the Cardinals at seventeen after his Bishop Ward High School team finished 18–0 and won the state championship. He reached the majors at nineteen following six appearances with the Rochester Red Wings. In 1964, serving as the left-handed complement to Bob Gibson, Sadecki won 20 games and helped the Cardinals capture their first World Series title in eighteen years. He was known for his use of the palmball.
