Red Holzman

William "Red" Holzman (1920–1998) was a professional basketball player and coach from New York City. He attended the University of Baltimore and City College of New York, graduating in 1942 before serving in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge in 1945, he joined the Rochester Royals. Holzman is best remembered as head coach of the New York Knicks from 1967 to 1977 and again from 1978 to 1982, guiding the franchise to NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986 and named one of the Top 10 Coaches in NBA History in 1996.
