John Peter, known as "Red", was born July 20, 1877 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died October 9, 1929 in New York, New York. He made his major-league debut in 1904 and was associated chiefly with the New York Yankees, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1911. His broader professional career — including minor-league service — extended through 1914. He stood 5-foot-10 and was listed at 165 pounds, and batted and threw right-handed. His likeness appears on the E92 Croft's Candy, E92 Croft's Cocoa, E92 Dockman & Sons Gum, E92 Nadja Caramels, and E97 Briggs Lozenges. He is buried at Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery in Queens, New York.
