Rich Kelley

Richard Ryland Kelley, born March 23, 1953, is an American retired basketball player who played center and power forward. A graduate of Woodside High School, the 7-foot, 235-pound Kelley attended Stanford University, where he played for the Cardinal under coach Howard Dallmar. Over 76 career games across three varsity seasons, he averaged 18.6 points and 12.4 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the free-throw line, scoring 1,412 total points and pulling down 944 total rebounds. He was selected as an underclassman in the second round of the 1974 American Basketball Association draft by the New York Nets but opted to remain in college. In 1974, he played for Team USA at the FIBA World Championship, winning a bronze medal.

In 1975, Kelley was drafted in the first round, seventh overall, by the New Orleans Jazz in the NBA draft, and was also taken in the second round of the 1975 ABA draft by the Memphis Sounds. He went on to play eleven seasons in the NBA.
