Rich McGeorge

Richard Eugene McGeorge (September 14, 1948 – December 20, 2025) was an American professional football player who played tight end for nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, to Aubrey E. McGeorge, he attended Jefferson High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. He lettered seven times during his high school career and was noted for his prowess in both basketball and football.

McGeorge enrolled at Elon College (now Elon University), where he played football for the Fightin' Christians. He had originally intended to play basketball, but head coach Bill Miller was not on campus when he took his initial tour. An assistant football coach discovered him passing a ball with a friend and offered him a scholarship soon after. After his freshman year, McGeorge was noted as a player to watch.

The Green Bay Packers selected McGeorge in the first round of the 1970 NFL draft. He went on to spend nine seasons with the team.
