Richard Todd, quarterback, played in the NFL from 1976 to 1986 with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. Born November 19, 1953, Todd played college football at the University of Alabama under coach Bear Bryant, where he was a three-year starter running the wishbone offense. He was selected by the Jets in the first round of the 1976 NFL Draft with the sixth overall pick. At Alabama, Todd appeared in the 1973 Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame, catching a 25-yard touchdown pass in a 24–23 loss. He also played alongside future NFL signal-callers in a program that produced quarterbacks including Joe Namath and Ken Stabler.
