Rick Wise

Richard Charles Wise (born September 13, 1945) is an American former professional baseball player and coach who pitched in Major League Baseball as a right-hander from 1964 to 1982. He appeared for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and San Diego Padres over his career.

Wise grew up in Portland, Oregon, where he led his Rose City Little League team to the 1958 Little League World Series, making him one of a small number of major leaguers to have played in both the Little League and Major League World Series. He attended Madison High School in Portland.

He debuted for the Phillies in 1964 at age 18, in his second professional season, recording his first major league win on June 21 in the second game of a doubleheader, an 8–2 victory over the New York Mets. A two-time National League All-Star, Wise pitched a no-hitter on June 23, 1971, and hit two home runs in the same game to support his own effort. He was the winning pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series.
