Rockne Freitas

Rockne Freitas (September 7, 1945 – June 8, 2022) was an offensive tackle who played eleven seasons in the NFL from 1968 to 1978, primarily with the Detroit Lions and later the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He attended Oregon State University and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1967 NFL/AFL draft. Freitas earned a Pro Bowl selection following the 1972 season. After retiring from football, he held leadership roles in Hawaiian education, serving as chancellor of Hawaiʻi Community College and vice president for university relations at the University of Hawaiʻi System.
