Rocky Bleier

Dossier
Robert Patrick "Rocky" Bleier (born March 5, 1946, in Appleton, Wisconsin) played running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League from 1968 and again from 1970 through 1980. A veteran of the United States Army, Bleier's professional career was interrupted by his military service. Before reaching the NFL, he starred at Xavier High School in Appleton, earning three-time all-state honors as a running back and all-conference recognition at linebacker. His nickname originated in infancy, coined by his father's bar patrons who likened the muscular newborn to a small rock.
