Rod Thorn

Rodney King Thorn (born May 23, 1941, Princeton, West Virginia) was a guard who played professional basketball after a standout career at Princeton High School, where he averaged more than 30 points per game as a senior and earned three all-state selections and two High School All-American honors. He attended West Virginia University, wearing #44 — the number vacated by Jerry West — and earned All-American recognition. After his playing career he moved into coaching and front-office work, eventually serving as an executive and Olympic Committee Chairman over a career of more than 50 years. Thorn was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.
