Ron Boone

Ronald Bruce Boone, born September 6, 1946, is an American former professional basketball player whose career spanned 13 years across the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. Boone set the record for most consecutive games played in professional basketball history with 1,041, and he has claimed never to have missed a game from the time he began playing basketball in the fourth grade through his retirement.

Boone grew up in the Logan Fontenelle housing project and attended Technical High School in North Omaha, Nebraska. There he played basketball for Coach Neal Mosser, who had led Tech to the 1963 state title and had earlier coached Bob Boozer and Bob Gibson. Boone stood only 5'7" when he graduated and did not become a starter in basketball until his senior season. He also played baseball at Technical High School under Coach Josh Gibson, the older brother of pitcher Bob Gibson and himself an Omaha native and Technical High School alumnus.

Following his playing career, Boone became the color commentator on Utah Jazz broadcasts, a role he continues to hold.
