Ronald Stephen Franz (1945–2022) was an American professional basketball player who competed as a small forward in the American Basketball Association. Franz played college basketball at the University of Kansas, where he was a three-year starter for the Jayhawks and served as team captain during the 1966–67 season under coach Ted Owens. Selected by the Detroit Pistons in the 1967 NBA Draft, he instead signed with the ABA's Oakland Oaks. He went on to play for the Oakland Oaks, New Orleans Buccaneers, Floridians, Memphis Tams, and Dallas Chaparrals between 1968 and 1973, and later played professionally in Switzerland.
