Ron Low

Ronald Albert Low, born June 21, 1950, is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender and coach who played in the National Hockey League with six teams between 1972 and 1985. Low grew up in Foxwarren, Manitoba, and played two years with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League before turning pro, leading the Kings to the Manitoba championship and the Memorial Cup playoffs in each of those seasons.

Originally selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft, Low played a single season with Toronto before being left exposed in the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft, where he was claimed by the Washington Capitals. He spent three seasons with the Capitals and recorded the first shutout in franchise history on February 16, 1975, against the Kansas City Scouts. He was later traded to the Detroit Red Wings organization, where he spent two seasons, before being claimed by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. After 15 games with the Nordiques, he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers.

Following his retirement, Low turned to coaching. He served as head coach of the Edmonton Oilers from 1995 to 1999 and of the New York Rangers from 2000 to 2002.
