Ron Mix

Ronald Jack Mix, born March 10, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, is an American former professional football player who played as an offensive tackle in the American Football League and the National Football League. He grew up in the city's Boyle Heights neighborhood, is Jewish, and attended Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, California. Mix played college football for the USC Trojans, where he was named to the All-American team.

Listed at 6 feet 5 inches and 270 pounds, Mix played right tackle and guard for the Los Angeles and San Diego Chargers of the AFL, and later played for the Oakland Raiders of the NFL. During his time in Oakland, he was part of the only offensive line in NFL history composed entirely of Hall of Famers: Art Shell, Gene Upshaw, Jim Otto, Ron Mix, and Bob Brown, from left to right. He was an early proponent of weightlifting to enhance athletic power.

Mix was a nine-time All-AFL selection from 1960 to 1968 and an eight-time AFL All-Star from 1961 to 1968. He is a member of the AFL All-Time Team and of the Los Angeles Chargers Hall of Fame. Mix was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
