Cameron Kenneth Ward was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who spent the majority of his 15-year career with the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on February 29, 1984, he grew up in Sherwood Park, Alberta and played junior hockey with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. The Hurricanes selected him 25th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. After a season with the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters, Ward won the Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006 and earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP — the first rookie starting goaltender to win the Cup since Patrick Roy in 1986. He finished his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, retiring in 2019.
