Ross O'Hanley

Ross O'Hanley (February 2, 1939 – April 7, 1972) was an American football safety who played for the Boston Patriots of the American Football League from 1960 to 1965. In his rookie season of 1960, he was named an All-League AFL player.
O'Hanley was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 1966 AFL expansion draft but never appeared in a game for the franchise. A severe thigh bruise suffered during the preseason caused him to miss the entire 1966 season, and he was cut and retired before the 1967 season.
Following his playing career, O'Hanley turned to coaching, leading the Lowell/Quincy Giants of the Atlantic Coast Football League from 1968 to 1969. He later worked as a high school mathematics teacher and as an aide in the Massachusetts attorney general's office. He was stricken by a brain tumor in 1971 and died the following year, on April 7, 1972, at the age of 33.
