Rudy May

Dossier
Rudolph May Jr. (July 18, 1944 – October 19, 2024) was a left-handed pitcher who appeared in Major League Baseball from 1965 and 1969 through 1983 with the Los Angeles/California Angels, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and Montreal Expos. A product of Castlemont High School in Oakland, California — where future Hall-of-Famer Joe Morgan was a teammate — May brought a live fastball early in his career but became best known for a sharp-breaking curveball. He led the American League in earned run average in 1980, the standout statistical achievement of an eighteen-year professional career.
