Sal Maglie

Salvatore Anthony Maglie (April 26, 1917 – December 28, 1992) was a right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1945 to 1958. Known as "Sal the Barber" for his habit of pitching inside and giving hitters close shaves, Maglie spent time with the New York Giants, Cleveland Indians, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Yankees, and St. Louis Cardinals — making him one of 14 players to wear the uniforms of all three New York clubs. Over his ten-year career he compiled 119 wins, 862 strikeouts, and a 3.15 ERA. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, he began his professional career with the Buffalo Bisons in 1938 before serving stateside during World War II.
