Sammy Rothschild

Samuel "Sammy" Rothschild (October 16, 1899 – April 15, 1987) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player born in Sudbury, Ontario. He played 102 games in the NHL, appearing for the Montreal Maroons, Pittsburgh Pirates, and New York Americans. Rothschild was the first Jewish player in the NHL, joining the expansion Maroons in 1924 after years of amateur hockey with Montreal Harmonia, McGill University, the Montreal Stars, and the senior Sudbury Wolves. He was part of the 1926 Stanley Cup champion Maroons and was the last surviving member of that team.
