Stan Hack

Stanley Camfield Hack (December 6, 1909 – December 15, 1979), nicknamed "Smiling Stan," was a left-handed-hitting third baseman who spent his entire Major League Baseball career with the Chicago Cubs. A leadoff hitter, Hack batted .301 lifetime and scored 100 or more runs seven times. He led the National League in hits and stolen bases twice each, and his 1,092 career walks stood as the fourth-highest total in NL history at retirement and remain a Cubs franchise record. His .394 on-base percentage was the highest by a 20th-century third baseman until Wade Boggs surpassed it. Hack appeared in four World Series, batting .348 in those contests, and ranked among the NL's all-time leaders in games, putouts, assists, and double plays at third base.
