Stan Weir

Stanley Brian Weir, born March 17, 1952, in Ponoka, Alberta, was a Canadian ice hockey centre who played 11 seasons across the NHL and WHA from 1972 to 1983. Selected 28th overall by the California Golden Seals in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft, he spent three seasons in California before moving to the Toronto Maple Leafs for three more. He signed with the Edmonton Oilers of the WHA in 1978, then rejoined the club when it entered the NHL, adding another three seasons. Brief stints with the Colorado Rockies and Detroit Red Wings closed his NHL career. He was the first graduate of Glen Sather's hockey school to reach the NHL.
